Wednesday, 2/9/11

Today has been a pretty bad day. She's been nauseous since Monday afternoon, unable to keep anything down. We worked with the palliative care nurse to change her medication and hopefully that will work. She's now taking Zofran for nausea and Dilaudid for the pain. They tell us these are both stronger and we're really hoping they'll give her some comfort. She vomited and a had a nosebleed at the clinic today. She's been pretty wiped out and sleeping all day.
Her hair falling out was starting to make her nervous, so we just shaved it today. I asked her if she'd like it if it grew back red and she laughed and just said as long as it wasn't gray, she didn't care what color it came back. I, for one, think she looks great with gray hair - but apparently, she doesn't.

  1. it takes some time to get use to the dilaudid alot time that causes nausea also, good drug for pain, glad to see she is on that. Have they tryed the fentanyl patch? Last for 3 days and provides good pain relief, and is constant dont have to worry about taking a pill and pain getting out of control...Let her know that when the hair grows back alot of people hair grows back even better, and big percentage that will grow back not gray:)sounds like she needs a big pot of homemade chicken soup and speaking of pot, it really helps with nausea and brings on an appetite, seriously pot is one of the best things for chemo, might want to think about it. I know your mom would get a kick out of that one at this age becoming a stoner:)
